Back in 1986, a couple of good ol' boys from Texas found themselves in Ottawa. They loved it there aside from one fact – not a single restaurant served the authentic Tex-Mex food they loved from back home. So they took matters into their own hands and opened up the very first Lone Star.
To do it right they sourced authentic recipes, cookin’ equipment and spices from Texas. They shipped up real Mesquite wood for the grill from Texas too. They even had an oven designed so they could bake tortillas fresh to order (somethin’, to this day, only we do). When it came to the food, they used nothin' but the freshest ingredients in everything they made.
Well, it seems the true tastes of Texas were appreciated ‘cause word spread like wildfire and they had line-ups out the door every day. All these years later we still do things up true to our Texas roots.
Whether it’s fajitas or anything else on the menu, we still use only the freshest ingredients and just the right spices to give our food that big, bold Tex-Mex taste everyone loves. We also serve up genuine hospitality, treatin’ every guest who walks through our doors like family. After all, we're proud of our Texas roots and want everyone to experience and enjoy that southern difference.
